Steam Inventory and [M]

Understand [M] equipment, DTR Coin, transfers and returning items to the game.

What does [M] mean?

On equipment, [M] identifies the Steam version of a part. It has its own fixed stat distribution and a larger stat budget than the normal version of the same rarity. [M] versions exist in all six rarities.

DTR Coin also carries [M], but it is a consumable: it has no stats, equipment rarity or upgrades. Each unit takes one in-game Inventory slot.

High rarity does not automatically mean a Steam item. A Common part can be [M]; a Mythic part can be normal.

[M] chance within each rarity

Rarity already rolledChance to be [M]
COMMON0.3%
UNCOMMON0.6%
Rare1.2%
Epic2.4%
Legendary4.8%
Mythic9.6%

These chances are conditional on the part's rarity. To include your progression's rarity chances as well, see Crates and drops.

From the game to Steam

  1. Find an [M] part in the in-game Inventory.
  2. If it is equipped, unequip it from the car.
  3. Right-click the part and choose the action to send it to Steam Inventory.
  4. Read the confirmation: transferring the part removes its upgrades.
  5. After confirmation, the item leaves the in-game Inventory and moves to Steam Inventory.

DTR Coin uses the same transfer action and return cooldown. You can sell the coin on the Community Market, but cannot sell it for Credit or dismantle it in-game.

Transferring changes where the item is stored. You do not keep two copies of the same item.

From Steam to the game

Open Steam Inventory, refresh the list if needed, and select an available item. Sending it to the in-game Inventory requires a free slot. An item exported from the game has a 4-hour return cooldown.

Importing equipment gives you a part with no upgrades. It enters your Inventory and must be equipped on the car you want. Buying an item on the Steam Market does not automatically equip it. For DTR Coin, each unit brought into the in-game Inventory becomes available for the Mascot Machine.

Steam Inventory is separate from the Inventory of unequipped parts. You can refresh the list and manage individual items in this panel. Click to enlarge.

Open the right market listing

Right-clicking an item in Steam Inventory offers Send to Inventory, Open Steam Market, and Open Steam Inventory. The market action opens that specific part's listing in the Steam client.

The shortcut to a specific listing is also available in the context menu of an empty Collection slot.

Selling from the in-game Inventory and trading on the Steam Market are separate actions. Sell consumes the local part and grants in-game Credit; it does not list the item on the market or add funds to your Steam Wallet.

Market purchases depend on Steam's own rules and item availability. To see a recently acquired item in-game, manually refresh Steam Inventory.

Steam equipment achievement and statistics

The first Steam equipment achievement unlocks when you receive eligible equipment in your in-game Inventory, without needing to send it to Steam. Steam equipment from automatic crate opening also counts toward acquisition statistics.

DTR Coin is a consumable and does not count toward this statistic or achievement.
